Limpopo – The Police in Thohoyandou have launched a massive manhunt after an inmate, Gumani Muluvhu (34) escaped from lawful custody on Monday 25 August 2025 at around 08:50.

According to the Limpopo Police Spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the suspect was initially arrested for Robbery using a weapon.

“Preliminary reports suggest that the police were transporting thirteen inmates to the Thohoyandou Magistrate court. When the police vehicle stopped at the robot, Muluvhu allegedly forced the police vehicle door open, and fled on foot,” She said.

“We are appealing to members of the community, not to attempt to apprehend the suspect for their safety.
