The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has set the record straight regarding the future of the Atlas Lions head coach, Walid Regragui.

If reports from the North African state are anything to go by, Regragui is on his way out, with an announcement expected soon.

However, the FRMF has insisted that it is all mere speculation and that Regragui is in charge of Morocco’s senior football team.

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation denies the rumours concerning its separation from coach Walid Regragui,” reads the statement.

Reports have persisted that Regragui’s time is up as head coach following Morocco’s defeat to Senegal in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

The latest reports suggest Regragui could be replaced by Mohamed Ouahbi, who guided Morocco’s U20 team to the FIFA U20 World Cup title last year.

However, Regragui remains a popular figure after leading the Atlas Lions to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, becoming the first African nation to do so.

The former right-back has been in charge since 2022.
