South African athlete Zakithi Nene has run a personal best (PB) of 43.76s to win the men’s 400m at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Kenya.
On Saturday, the 27-year-old became the third fastest African man of all time, behind compatriot Wayde van Niekerk (43.03) and Botswana’s Isaac Makwala (43.72).
In the 2016 Olympic Games men’s 400m, Van Niekerk won the gold medal with a world record time mentioned above.
Nene won the 400m ahead of Nigerian Chidi Okezie, who finished second in 44.98.
Recently, Nene anchored the South African 4x400m team to gold at the World Relays earlier this month.
