Makhado – A 38-year-old Zimbabwean motorist was shot and killed on the N1 road outside the Louis town when his vehicle had a breakdown yesterday.

Limpopo Police Spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said a Zimbabwean motorist was driving from Gauteng to Zimbabwe with three passengers when had a breakdown near Ben Lavin plot outside the Louis Trichardt town in the evening.

“While craving for help from other motorists, a white Toyota Fortuner stopped, and two unknown men alighted and approached the stranded Zimbabweans as if they wanted to help. The two asked who the driver was. Upon being pointed out innocently, one of the suspects immediately produced a firearm and shot at the identified driver several times. The other three occupants ran to different directions for their safety. After the shooting, the two suspects quickly boarded into their vehicle and fled from the scene,” She said.

“Makhado police were summoned to the scene together with the paramedics. Upon their arrival, the victim was dead already with several bullet wounds. His identity is currently withheld for investigation purposes,” Said Brig Mashaba.

“The police opened a murder case and the motive behind his murder is not known. Police investigations are underway to establish the cause of the fatal shooting,” she said.
