Zimbabwe's Sugarcane Sector Adopts Climate Resilience To Boost Yields Amid Challenges - African Times

Zimbabwe’s Sugarcane Sector Adopts Climate Resilience To Boost Yields Amid Challenges

The new farmer training initiative to drive the growth of Zimbabwe’s sugarcane industry

Zimbabwe’s sugarcane industry is embracing climate adaptation strategies to safeguard yields and expand production, aiming for a 100,000 metric tonne increase by 2030. This is reported by ZBC News, a partner of TV BRICS.

Zimbabweans aim to raise sugarcane deliveries to mills from 500,000 to 600,000 tonnes by implementing climate-smart practices. New farmers are also emphasising the importance of learning from experienced counterparts to strengthen the sector.

The ceremony celebrated the achievements of 42 sugarcane outgrowers who received certificates in sugarcane production, signifying a commitment to improving practices and adapting to a changing climate.

This milestone aligns with Zimbabwe’s broader vision of enhancing agricultural resilience and achieving sustainable growth in the sugar industry.
