ActionSA’s quest to bring smaller parties with public representation under one roof ahead of the 2026 Local Government Election, is gaining momentum.
Party leader Herman Mashaba has announced that several regional parties and individual councillors have joined the alliance in Limpopo, known as the “Green Umbrella”.
He said three regional parties with a total of five councillors, the Capricorn Independent Community Activists Forum (CICAF) with two councillors in Polokwane, the Magoshi Swaranang Movement, with three councillors in Polokwane and Lepelle Nkumpi municipalities, and the membership of the Democratic Union Party (DUP) all joined the ActionSA led united front in Polokwane on 20 February.
Speaking during the announcement of the merger, Mashaba said this was part of ActionSA’s preparation for the 2026 Local Government Elections.
“It is with great pride that i announce to you that ActionSA has 39 new Councillors, 34 from Forum 4 Service Delivery (FSD), announced in January, and an additional 5, who are being announced here in Limpopo, who have seen it fit to agree joining us under ActionSA’s growing green umbrella” Mashaba said.

He said he is proud that ActionSA has 145 public representatives spread across several municipalities in seven provinces, four years after it was founded.
“As a party formed 4-years ago, we are immensely proud to have 134 Councillors, 5 members of Provincial Legislatures, and 6 members of Parliament. All in all, we have official representation in 7 of the country’s 9 provinces” Mashaba said.
As a result of this major announcement, ActionSA will expand its membership in different municipalities such as Polokwane, Thabazimbi, Giyani, Lepelle Nkumpi, Molemole, ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.
Mashaba said this is part of ActionSA’s drive to strengthen and expand its footprint ahead of the next municipal elections.
The merger will see CICAF and Magoshi Swaranang temporarily maintaining their identities to protect their municipal seats, while publicly campaigning for ActionSA.
Mashaba hailed his newly appointed Deputy President Dr Mbahare Kekana, founder of the Forum for Service Delivery (F4SD), for having brought with him a wave of recruitment into the party and further credited him for being the brain behind the massive recruitment of smaller parties.
