The ANC Limpopo’s Peter Mokaba region is pointing fingers at the party’s provincial leadership, accusing them of dragging their feet in resolving branch disputes ahead of the regional elective conference.
In a statement released on Thursday, 8 May, the regional task team (RTT) expressed concern about the pace at which the provincial resolution committee is dealing with unresolved branch disputes.
” The special RTT meeting expressed concern about the slow pace of dispute/ appeals resolution process by the Provincial Dispute Resolution Committee (PDRC). This concern was raised against the backdrop of timelines communicated in our conference roadmap.
“We thus agreed that the regional secretariat, Edward Paya must continuously be seized with this matter to ensure that disputes/ appeals are resolved without further delay,” ANC Peter Mokaba RTT spokesperson Adolph Rapetswa said.
According to reports, 49 branches have disputed the outcomes of the branch general meetings (BGMs), 12 have parallel leadership, and all are awaiting the outcomes.
For the region to sit and elect new leadership, 79 branches out of the 103 that have qualified must do so.
As it stands, it has been said that only 43 branches have undergone pre-registration, and therefore, the region needs 36 branches for the conference to proceed with its business as scheduled.
According to the revised roadmap, the hotly contested regional conference is scheduled to start with its business from Friday, 9 to Sunday, 11 May 2025, at The Ranch Hotel, outside Polokwane.

However, with unresolved disputes still hanging, the conference is likely to face another delay.
The RTT’s concerned fingers are pointed at Limpopo premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, the party’s provincial head of the dispute resolution committee, for delaying the conference by not attending to disputes urgently.
On Wednesday, some ANC branches in Peter Mokaba marched to the Limpopo provincial office to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with how the RTT handled the BGMs and requested that the provincial leadership intervene in the conference processes.
ANC Limpopo provincial spokesperson Jimmy Machaka said once the PDRC has completed its work on the disputes, affected members and branches will be informed of the outcomes.
“The ANC Limpopo PEC remains concerned that some of the region has not adhered to their approved roadmap, and we hope in due corse all outstanding matters will be attended to and conference sit before the expiry of their term of office as the RTT,” Machaka said.
