The Provincial Task Team (PTT) of the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has extended the term of office for all the 11 regions in the province to March this year.
The extension is contained in a memo to the regions dated 21 January 2026, which was signed off by Mike Mabuyakhulu, the provincial coordinator.
Mabuyakhulu told the branches that the extension is subject to further review by the National Executive Committee (NEC).
“This correspondence serves to update you on the status of the Regional Task Teams (RTTs). While the initial six-month term following the 26 June 2025 establishment has concluded, you are hereby informed that the RTT’s term of office has been extended until the end of March 2026. Please note that this extension is subject to further review by the National Executive Committee (NEC), which retains the discretion to adjust this timeframe as it may deem fit,” Mabuyakhulu said in the memo.
He added that the RTT should now put more effort on preparing for elective conferences and the renewal project.
“In the meantime, we urge the Coordinators to increase the tempo in pursuit of the objectives delineated in the revised roadmap for the conferences and other targets that were adopted in the Coordinators meeting of 1 January 2026, including the recruitments and renewal of our membership base, begging process towards BGM and BBGMs, alongside crucial data cleansing initiatives, as well as other work of rebuilding our structures,” he further said.
The memo is mum on when the much-anticipated provincial and regional conferences will be held.
