The African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo has praised its structures across the province for their continued efforts to strengthen the movement and ensure good governance. This follows the conclusion of the party’s Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting held at Frans Mohlala House in Polokwane on Monday, 10 November 2025.
Provincial Chairperson Chupu Stanley Mathabatha presented a political report, while the Provincial Secretary delivered the organisational report. The meeting was attended by National Executive Committee (NEC) members deployed to Limpopo. Discussions focused on internal renewal, improving branch functionality, and strengthening accountability among elected representatives.
ANC Limpopo Provincial Spokesperson Machaka Mathole Jimmy said the PEC reaffirmed its commitment to restoring the party’s integrity through discipline, service delivery, and community engagement.
Victories in Recent By-Elections
The PEC welcomed ANC victories in recent municipal by-elections in Fetakgomo Tubatse, Musina, Bela-Bela, and Ephraim Mogale municipalities. The party reported improved performance in most areas, noting a rise in both support and voter turnout.
In Ward 37 of Fetakgomo Tubatse, ANC support grew from 75.6 percent to 79.7 percent, while voter turnout increased from 47 percent to 49.6 percent. In Ephraim Mogale’s Ward 9, support climbed from 65.6 percent to 69.1 percent, and turnout rose from 39.8 percent to 48.9 percent.
“The PEC appreciates the dedication of ANC volunteers, NEC deployees, regional committees, MPs, MPLs, and alliance partners who worked tirelessly to secure these victories,” said Mathole. “The results demonstrate that the people of Limpopo continue to trust the ANC to lead and deliver.”
Improvement in Clean Audits
The PEC also commended the Limpopo Provincial Government, led by Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, for improved audit outcomes from the Auditor-General for the 2024/25 financial year. Five departments achieved clean audits, including the Office of the Premier, Provincial Treasury, Transport, Sport Arts and Culture, and Economic Development, Environment and Tourism.
Mathole said the PEC welcomed this progress as a reflection of strengthened governance and financial discipline. “We encourage continued efforts to deal with issues of irregular expenditure and supply chain compliance,” he said. “Departments must ensure that funds allocated for service delivery are used efficiently to meet the needs of communities.”
Investment Conference Generates Billions
The PEC congratulated the provincial government for successfully hosting the 2025 Limpopo Investment Conference, which secured R170 billion in investment commitments.
“These investments will go a long way towards creating jobs and boosting economic growth in the province,” Mathole said. “The PEC has urged government departments to follow up and ensure that these pledges translate into tangible projects.”
Youth League National Congress
The PEC also welcomed the decision by the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) to host its 26th National Congress in Limpopo from 14 to 17 December 2025. The provincial leadership pledged full support for the event and encouraged all structures to assist in preparations.
“The ANCYL Congress represents a moment of renewal and an opportunity to reaffirm the vital role of young people in shaping the future of the movement,” Mathole said.
Disputed Regional Conferences
The PEC congratulated the Waterberg Region for successfully holding its regional conference and accepted the NEC Working Committee’s decision to confirm the outcomes of the Peter Mokaba, Norman Mashabane, and Vhembe regional conferences. Five affected branches in the Peter Mokaba Region have been referred to the National Dispute Resolution Committee of Appeal for further consideration.
Focus on Gender-Based Violence
The PEC expressed concern about high levels of gender-based violence (GBV), particularly in the Vhembe Region. It urged all ANC structures to make GBV prevention a permanent item in their meetings and to support community awareness programmes.
“The ANC in Limpopo will not deploy any leader or member found guilty of GBV-related crimes,” said Mathole. “This is part of our commitment to building a society based on respect, equality, and justice.”
Road Safety and Condolences
The PEC raised concern about the recent spate of fatal road accidents across the province. It called on all motorists to obey traffic rules and urged the Department of Transport and Community Safety to intensify road safety campaigns.
The ANC also conveyed its best wishes for the recovery of Limpopo artist Kharishma and her crew following a car accident.
The PEC expressed condolences to several families and comrades who lost loved ones, including NEC deployee Andile Lungisa on the passing of his mother, Mama Nonexile Beauty Lungisa, and to the family of the late artist and producer Molimisi Baaitsi, known as Dr Nel.
“The ANC condemns the senseless killing of Dr Nel and calls on the public to assist the police with any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible,” Mathole said.
The party also sent condolences to the victims of two separate accidents that claimed multiple lives, including one involving Malawian and Zimbabwean nationals and another in Ga-Sekgopo where 12 people died.
Preparations for the National General Council
The PEC discussed preparations for the ANC’s upcoming National General Council (NGC), scheduled from 8 to 12 December 2025. Limpopo has been allocated 115 branch delegates, excluding PEC and REC members.
“The ANC Limpopo will actively participate in the NGC discussions, focusing on renewal, transformation, and the movement’s strategy and tactics,” Mathole said.
Hosting of Carling Knockout Final
The PEC celebrated the successful bid by the Polokwane Municipality to host the 2025 Carling Black Label Knockout Final at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 6 December. The ANC encouraged residents to attend and support the event.
Commitment to Renewal
In conclusion, Mathole said the ANC Limpopo PEC remains committed to unity, accountability, and organisational renewal.
“As we approach the end of the year, the ANC in Limpopo continues to focus on serving our communities, rebuilding trust, and ensuring that the renewal agenda reflects the highest values of the organisation,” he said.
