The North West province will have a team in the top flight of South African football in the 2025/26 season.

This comes after Orbit College beat Cape Town City 1-0 at the Olympia Park Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The win sees Orbit clinch the PSL Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs with eight points from four outings.

Orbit College finished second in the Motsepe Foundation Championship—the second tier of SA football—to qualify for the playoffs.

In the mini-league, Orbit College fought gallantly to top the log, leaving Cape Town City to pack up their bags as they are relegated.

The North West people would be pleased to see Orbit in the top flight, which would have economic spin-offs for the province when Betway Premiership clubs come to town for the matches.

The last time the North West had a top flight team was Platinum Stars in the 2017/18 campaign, but they were relegated.

Platinum Stars was later sold and renamed Cape Umoya United.
