The Royal AM saga continues after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) rejected the deal on Thursday.
Earlier on, African Times reported that Durban businessman Chockalingam “Roy” Moodley had made a successful bid to the SA Revenue Service (SARS) Curator, which would have paved the way for Royal AM to resume league action.
However, the PSL executive committee (Exco) has thrown a spanner in the works and decided to reject the deal after a meeting on Thursday, 27 March.
The PSL Exco is yet to break its silence on the matter, but according to reports, the deal hit a snag after Moodley allegedly failed SARS’ vetting process.
“Apparently, Moodley’s background paints him as someone who doesn’t have a good record with Sars, so they have decided to nullify his winning bid,” reported the Sowetan.
Royal AM has not played a match in 2025 and is about ten matches behind.
With the league set to conclude in May, it’s not clear what the future holds for the team.
