Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has likened the team’s season to “pregnancy” ahead of the Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates.
Amakhosi will clash against their archrivals, the Buccaneers, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, with kickoff at 15h30.
Chiefs have not won a major trophy in 10 years, and the Burundian has called on the club’s supporters to rally behind the team in Durban to ensure they deliver this time around.
“We understand the frustrations of the fans, and we share the frustrations as well,” said Kaze during a press conference in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday.
“But coming into this game, I’m pretty sure that the ladies would agree with me,” he continued.
“You have been struggling with nine months of pregnancy, and now it is time to deliver (after a difficult season). Everyone, all the family, needs to show up on that day—everyone in the family who loves Chiefs. That is the only advice that I will share.”
Whether Chiefs can deliver on their promise or not remains to be seen, as the Nedbank Cup final looms large.
“We have played two close games against (Pirates) this season. A final is a final and the pressure is on them as the favourites. We are happy to come into this game as underdogs,” Kaze added.
