Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) commander-in-chief Julius Malema hosted the June 16 rally at King Zwelithini Stadium in the south of KwaZulu-Natal.
In commemoration of the 1976 Youth Day, EFF members gathered in uMlazi, including the president of the EFF’s Student Command, Sihle Lonzi, who took the stage to honour the youth who died in 1976.
Lonzi spoke about the social relief distress grant of R350, saying it is not enough for South Africa’s youth.
“R350 is not enough, we can’t buy anything with that R350. We are calling for a job-seeking allowance in South Africa for the unemployed youth that is nothing less than R1500 every single month,”* said Lonzi.
Malema then took the stage and addressed the youth at the 2025 rally.
“We remember Steve Biko and Winnie Mandela, and we say to them… we will never retreat,” said Julius.
“The head of the NPA must resign with immediate effect. We lose simple cases… how do you lose a case like Omotoso? That case was supposed to be won, and today Omotoso is walking free because the NPA failed us,” Malema added.
The EFF leader also touched on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit to America, where he met with United States President Donald Trump, describing the visit as a “joke.”
“Ramaphosa was bullied in America by another president, and that president forced him to watch a movie without his permission “, Malema said in his speech.
Malema also addressed false genocide claims made in America, stating: “We are saying to white people let live together, but we can’t live in peace if you don’t give us what you stole from us- that’s what we are talking about, we are not talking about killing anyone”.
