At the opening of Food Africa 2025, Essam Ahmed Elnaggar emphasised that the event had become the second largest platform in the region, bringing together producers, exporters and importers. The exhibition promotes the entry of Egyptian goods into new markets, as well as introducing innovations in the food and packaging industries.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mustafa Al-Sayyad noted that the agricultural sector accounts for 15 per cent of GDP and 25 per cent of employment in the country. Since the beginning of 2025, agricultural exports have increased by 800.000 tonnes compared to last year, reaching 8.5 million tonnes. Egypt has opened 25 new markets, including South Africa, the Philippines, Mexico, and Venezuela.
According to the source, citrus fruits (about 2 million tonnes), potatoes, onions, grapes, and mangoes remain the leaders in exports. The Ministry of Agriculture is strengthening quality control and introducing modern systems for tracking export consignments.
Experts emphasised that over the past ten years, the exhibition has become a key platform for more than 1,200 companies from 45 countries. Total exports of food and agricultural products over the decade reached approximately US$67 billion, accounting for 23 per cent of Egypt’s non-commodity exports.
