In only his first season, South African tactician Fadluraghman “Fadlu” Davids has guided Tanzanian club Simba to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Davids has been at the helm since July 2024, and on Wednesday, 9 April, he proved his worth.
Simba met Egyptian club Al Masry in Tanzania’s largest city, Dar es Salaam, in the second leg of their quarter-finals clash, on the back of a 2-0 loss in the first leg.
Davids’s men overturned the scoreline with a 2-0 win on their own turf to force the tie into a penalty shootout, and Simba emerged 3-0 winners.
This is the first time ever that Simba managed to reach the last four in this competition, having made it to the quarter-finals in the 2021/22 campaign.
Davids’s charges will meet either South African team Stellenbosch or Zamalek, the defending champions from Egypt, in the semi-finals.
The former Maritzburg United striker is also fighting for the league title against bitter rivals, Young Africans, in Tanzania’s Premier League.
