The battle between South Africa and Egypt in the CAF Champions League semifinals will kick off in Gauteng in just over a week.
According to CAF Online, the first legs will take place in South Africa.
Mamelodi Sundowns will face the reigning champions and Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly on Friday, 18 April, but the venue is yet to be confirmed.
However, it’s most likely to be at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria.
Orlando Pirates will also start at home, taking on Pyramids, another Egyptian club. The first leg is also scheduled for Friday, 18 April, and although the venue is also not confirmed yet, it’s likely to be at Orlando Stadium.
A week later, on 25 April, Sundowns will be up against Al Ahly in the second leg in Cairo.
Likewise, Pirates will also travel to Egypt for their second leg clash against Pyramids.
Depending on results, Sundowns and Pirates may set up an all-South African final for the first time in history.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC, who have made it to the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals by beating the defending champions Zamalek, will be away in the first leg.
They’ll travel to Tanzania to play Simba on Sunday, 20 April.
Nicknamed ‘Stellies,’ the Western Cape team will then host the second leg on Sunday, 27 April.
This is the first time ever that three South African clubs have reached the semifinals stage of CAF inter-club competitions in the same season.
