South African striker Fagrie Lakay has won the Egyptian League Cup.
Lakay, who plays for Cleopatra Ceramica, scored the second goal in the 2-0 over National Bank late on Thursday.
This triumph marks Ceramica Cleopatra’s third consecutive Egypt Capital Cup title, making them the most successful club in the competition’s short history, with three wins in four editions.
Lakay and company thus qualify for next season’s Egyptian Super Cup, which will feature Premier League champions Al Ahly, Egypt Cup holders Zamalek, the Capital Cup winners, Ceramica, and one wildcard team granted a prestigious “golden card,” and that is Pyramids, the newly crowned CAF Champions League winners.
Lakay, meanwhile, was on loan at Cleopatra from Pyramids.
Cleopatra has decided to make the deal permanent, with the two parties expected to finalize a deal soon.
