Spanish club FC Barcelona has moved swiftly to tie down rising star Lamine Yamal to a long-term contract.
The 17-year-old has signed a new six-year contract, which keeps him at Camp Nou until June 2031.
Yamal was in his element this season and will wear the number 10 jersey next season, which belonged to the legendary Lionel Messi.
Considered Messi’s true heir, Lamal scored 18 goals and contributed 25 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions this season.
Barcelona has been hard at work behind the scenes, with a few key individuals, both playing and coaching personnel, rewarded with contract extensions.
Brazilian winger Raphinha is on a new contract until June 2028, and manager Hansi Flick agreed to terms on a deal until June 2027.
