Betway Premiership club Marumo Gallants have placed their trust in young French coach Lafitte Alexandre.

The 28-year-old is the new head coach of the Free State-based club, taking over from Abdeslam Ouaddou, who has moved to Orlando Pirates.

“Marumo Gallants F.C. confirms the appointment of Lafitte Alexandre as the club’s new head coach,” the club stated.

“The French coach brings a strong track record in leading teams in both France and Côte d’Ivoire. Alexandre most recently managed Stade d’Abidjan, where he guided the team to the Ivorian League title.”

Stade d’Abidjan’s title win was their first in 56 years, leading to lots of interest in his services.

Marumo Gallants boss Abram Sello is confident he’s found the right man for the job.

“Coach Alexandre has a clear understanding of the direction we are taking as a club,” said Sello.

“He joins ahead of pre-season, which is critical for continuity and alignment of our objectives.”

Marumo Gallants return to training on 1 July, but Alexandre is expected in South Africa in two weeks.

They finished 10th in the league last season.
