Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso says he is staying put at Mamelodi Sundowns despite rumours to the contrary.

Cardoso, who hass been at the helm since December 2024, was speaking after Sundowns returned to league action with a 2-0 victory over Orbit College at Loftus Stadium on Monday.

“People are discussing or thinking about the things that they would like to probably happen,” said Cardoso.

“Sundowns is a club that is ruled from the inside to the outside, not from the outside into the inside.

“There is strong leadership inside the club, a strong sports director, a very strong coach, and a very strong locker room. It is not from the outside where people will hurt us. The doors of Chloorkop are so strong that those kinds of things don’t enter,” he insisted.

“We are united, and we know what to do. We are working hard to please our fans as much as possible. We need our fans not to be poisoned by the outside,” he added.

“Regarding my future, don’t worry about my future because my future doesn’t only depend on football; just my professional life depends on football. It is completely different.”

Sundowns won the league in his first season but fell short in other competitions, including the CAF Champions League, which is Sundowns’ biggest target.
