Kruger United has sealed an automated promotion to South Africa’s top league following a dominant season in the second tier.
Over the weekend, the Bushbuckridge-based side secured promotion with two matches to spare, and should struggling TS Galaxy avoid relegation, the province will have two clubs in SA’s top flight.
Kruger United has garnered 58 points from 28 matches, with their last two matches essentially dead rubbers for them.
They have won 17 matches – more than any other side – drew seven, and lost four, which is fewer than any team.
Abram Mongoya’s boys have also scored the most goals, with 47 to their name.
Kruger United was formed in 2023, after purchasing the SAFA Second Division status of Caroline FC.
In its first season, it won the Mpumalanga stream in the 2023/24 SAFA Second Division, qualifying for the playoffs, reaching the final, and earning promotion to the 2024/25 National First Division (NFD).
After just one season in the NFD, they have joined the big league.
