The historic Damelin College has been acquired by a new consortium, BlueView, which aims to transform it into a reliable institution of higher learning.

The takeover follows months of turbulence under its previous owner, Educor. BlueView has stated that putting students’ futures first is its central commitment.

The consortium says this vision is anchored in regulatory alignment, academic quality, institutional stability, and a shared commitment to expanding credible higher-education opportunities in South Africa.

“Damelin remains operational and focused on delivering teaching and learning to registered students under the applicable regulatory framework. Core academic, administrative, and student-support functions are stable and functioning, with systems in place to ensure continuity, oversight, and institutional sustainability as the institution prepares for the next phase of its journey,” the consortium said after taking over.

Dr Sipho Nzimande, the director and chief strategist responsible for repositioning the institution, emphasised that student protection will remain central to Damelin’s operations.

“Teaching and learning continue without interruption for current cohorts, assessment and result-release processes are functioning, and certification and academic records are managed centrally. A national student query and support function is active to ensure students receive timely responses and support,” he added.

Furthermore, he said academic operations continue in line with approved programmes, supported by structured assessment, moderation, and academic governance processes. Academic oversight is centralised to ensure consistency, accountability, and quality across delivery.

“The current focus is on fully complying with outstanding regulatory requirements, closing identified gaps, stabilising the institution, and safeguarding the interests of students. Central to this process is the repair and strengthening of working relations with the Department of Higher Education and Training and other regulators. Only once institutional stability, compliance, and regulatory confidence have been firmly restored will any future consideration of university status be approached,” Nzimande added.
