
The African continent remains well represented in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in North America, with ninety percent of the teams that qualified for the global showpiece still at the tournament.
Ten African teams qualified for the World Cup, and only Tunisia failed to make it past the group stage.
South Africa, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Cape Verde, Algeria, Ghana, Egypt, DR Congo and Senegal have all made it through to the knockout phase, which represents 90% of African teams that qualified.
SA v Canada
Bafana Bafana will be the first in line to kick off the knockout stage with a clash against Canada at the SoFI Stadium in Los Angeles, USA. The match takes place on Sunday, 28 June.
29 June: Morocco v Netherlands
Morocco, who were in the semifinals four years ago, will take on one of the tournament favourites Netherlands in Guadalupe, on the Northern side of Mexico.
30 June: Ivory Coast v Norway
The Elephants will clash against Norway in Arlington, Texas.
1 July: DR Congo v England
DR Congo will be hoping to cause a major upset when they meet England in Atlanta, USA.
1 July: Senegal v Belgium
Africa’s number two side, Senegal, will face a tough battle against Belgium in Seattle, USA.
2 July: Algeria v Switzerland
The Desert Foxes will entertain Switzerland in Vancouver, Canada.
3 July: Cape Verde v Argentina
Cape Verde – the smallest nation to ever reach the knockout phase – will be hard pressed against the defending champions, Argentina. The two sides will meet at Miami Gardens, USA.
3 July: Egypt v Australia
The Pharaohs will battle the Australians in Arlington, Canada.
3 July: Ghana v Colombia
The Black Stars will take on the South Americans in Kansas City, USA.
