Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa recently rejected a move to North Africa, but that has not stopped clubs from the region from pursuing him.
African Times can confirm Moroccan club MAS Fez were willing to buy Mabasa from the Buccaneers for a reported fee of R17 million, and with a club-to-club agreement seemingly in place, the decision was left to Mabasa, and he turned it down in favour of staying at Pirates.
However, this publication has been informed that Algerian club MC Alger, who are coached by South African mentor Rulani Mokwena, are keen to lure Mabasa to North Africa.
The 28-year-old is back in the picture at Pirates after making the matchday squad for the first time this season, with a place on the bench for the clash against Stellenbosch at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Mabasa has previously spoken of his desire to become the club’s leading scorer.
Former Bucs midfielder Benedict Vilakazi tops the list with 58 goals, and Mabasa is 11 goals behind with 47 to his name.
However, it is believed MC Alger may put in a tempting offer for him.
