Coach Rulani Mokwena says he would jump at the opportunity to coach Orlando Pirates again.

Mokwena, who is unattached at the moment, was previously with the Buccaneers, and with them searching for a new coach after José Riveiro’s exit, Mokwena would gladly take the job if offered to him.

“Of course I would consider it [joining Pirates]. Of course I would,” he confessed to Soccer Africa on Thursday evening.

“It’s a big club, and it still has people that are very close to me. I am very fond of Dr. [Irvin] Khoza, very fond, and he will always have a special place in my heart.”

Mokwena added, “I’ve been fortunate enough that, as a coach, I’ve learned a lot about leadership from three of the best… in fact, for me, three of the best football leaders on the continent. Dr. Khoza is number one, for sure; general knowledge, history, geography, football, you know—everything. Patrice Motsepe, the things he taught me at Mamelodi Sundowns are unbelievable, and the third is Hicham Ait Menna. I enjoyed working with the president of Wydad.”

Meanwhile, the former Wydad mentor has been strongly linked to the new CAF Champions League winners, Pyramids of Egypt.

Mokwena is being considered to replace Krunoslav Jurčić, who appears keen to move on.
