The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has expressed deep sadness over the passing of Dr. Tshenuwani Farisani, one of the founding leaders of the council and a key figure in shaping South Africa’s taxi industry.

In a heartfelt media statement, SANTACO praised Dr. Farisani for his powerful influence as a liberation theologian, statesman, and visionary. They said he was more than just a leader — he was a guiding light who believed in unity and transformation.

“We were truly blessed to have an elder of Dr. Farisani’s stature involved in the foundation and continued growth of SANTACO,” said SANTACO President, Mr. Motlhabane Abnar Tsebe. “He reminded us of the importance of unity, integrity, and purpose within our ranks. We are deeply saddened by his passing and had hoped to still learn so much more from him.”

Dr. Farisani played a major role in the formation of SANTACO during his time as MEC for Transport in Limpopo, especially when the government first started working to organise the taxi sector through the National Taxi Task Team (NTTT).

His death, confirmed by Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, is being felt not only in the province but across the country. He helped shape the taxi industry into a strong, organised, and black-owned part of the South African economy.

SANTACO said they will support all efforts to give Dr. Farisani a respectful and honourable farewell. They also committed to continuing his mission. “We will preserve his teachings, uphold his values, and ensure his vision for a united and professional taxi industry lives on,” the council said.

Dr. Farisani’s legacy will live in the hearts of those he inspired. SANTACO offered their condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his work.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
