Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is living on borrowed time at the club despite winning the 2025 Nedbank Cup, if reports are anything to go by.
Chiefs are fresh from winning the Ke Yona trophy, beating Orlando Pirates 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium over the weekend.
However, the celebrations are on pause, with a Sunday Times report claiming the club’s management has made a decision to let Nabi go at the end of the season. He’s set to depart with his technical team.
The Tunisian joined Amakhosi on a two-year deal in July 2024, with an option to extend for a further year.
“Sunday Times can reveal that Kaizer Chiefs’ top brass have decided against allowing Nasreddine Nabi—who was hired on a two-year deal in July 2024, with an option to extend for another year—to continue beyond the 2024/25 campaign,” reported the publication.
Chiefs’ cup run cannot be understated. They beat Stellenbosch, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Orlando Pirates to win the trophy.
However, their league form has been nothing to write home about. At the time of writing, Chiefs occupied ninth spot on the Betway Premiership standings with two games to go. They’ve lost 12, won eight, and drawn six in 26 games.
Chiefs are yet to comment on Nabi’s reported impending exit.
Nabi, meanwhile, has said winning the cup is the “beginning of the journey,” suggesting he’s at the club to stay.
