Orlando Pirates coach José Riveiro is gutted after losing the Nedbank Cup final.
To rub salt into the wound, the 2-1 defeat was to archrivals Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
The Buccaneers have endured a terrible spell recently.
Pirates was knocked out of the CAF Champions League semi-finals by Egyptian club Pyramids last month, before losing ground in the league race to Mamelodi Sundowns, and now, they’ve had to settle for a runners-up spot in the Nedbank Cup.
“You can ask the players the way they feel, and for me, it is the same. For me, every game is an opportunity to beat somebody, and when you don’t do it and you are competitive, you don’t sleep,” Riveiro asserted.
“I understand that today was a big game; it’s a final that we’ve lost. And tomorrow we go again because on Tuesday, we are going to face a test one more time in the league (at home to Lamontville Golden Arrows).
“The pain is the same because the way you visualize your day today is different than the way that it is going to end. Now we have to beat Arrows in a few days and then play TS Galaxy, and so on. Like I said, we don’t have to feel sorry.
“The pity party ends (on Sunday) morning, and we start to prepare the next one because it’s important to win the next match,” he added.
