Team South Africa Voted Best at World Relay Championships

The South African relay teams have put the country on the map after some sensational performances at the World Relay Championships in Guangzhou, China, recently.

South Africa topped the medal standings with two golds and one bronze, ahead of the United States of America (USA).

The teams’ top performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with World Athletics, the international governing body for the sport of athletics, declaring South Africa the best team from the event.

South Africa’s men’s 4x100m won gold with a national record of 37.61.

The men’s 4x400m team was also in fine form, winning gold in a world lead of 2:57.50.

In the women’s 4x400m, South Africa also produced a national record, settling for bronze in a time of 3:24.84.

Team South Africa was due to arrive home on Wednesday afternoon.
