The university has suspended all academic activities following a request from the Student Representative Council (SRC) to allow students to attend court proceedings.

In a statement issued by the Vice-Chancellor and Principal Prof. Bernard Nthambeleni, he acknowledged the emotional impact of the incident on the university community and emphasized the institution’s support for students seeking justice and showing solidarity.

“This is a once-off approval and must not be misconstrued as a blanket approval for suspension of academic activities for any future court appearances,” said Prof. Nthambeleni.

He further urged all staff and students to act respectfully and uphold dignity during this period.
