LUSAKA – Vote counting is underway across Zambia following Thursday’s general election, with election officials tallying ballots from polling stations across the country.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) is expected to announce the presidential election results by Monday, 17 August.

Meanwhile, unverified results and purported tallies from various counting centres are being shared widely on social media. The figures have not been confirmed by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Zambians are now awaiting the official tally as the electoral process moves into the counting and verification stage.
