LUSAKA — Zambia is set to receive Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel, who will undertake a State Visit to the Republic of Zambia from 10th to 11th November 2025, at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema.
The visit, announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, comes as a reciprocal gesture following President Hichilema’s State Visit to Israel in June 2023. It marks a significant milestone in strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between the two nations.
According to the statement, the two Heads of State are scheduled to hold Bilateral Talks at State House under the framework of the General Framework Agreement of Cooperation signed in 2023. The discussions will focus on deepening collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, health, education, technology, trade, and investment.
President Hichilema and President Herzog are also expected to exchange views on regional and global matters, including peace and security,a conversation that gains notable relevance given the ongoing Gaza-Israel and Palestine conflict. The visit is therefore expected to place Zambia in the international spotlight as the southern African nation engages a key Middle Eastern player amid a tense global geopolitical climate.
Observers note that the visit underscores Zambia’s growing diplomatic visibility and commitment to fostering balanced international relations anchored on mutual respect and sustainable development.
“The visit by President Herzog to Zambia underscores the warm and growing friendship between Zambia and Israel and provides an opportunity to consolidate development cooperation that directly contributes to Zambia’s economic transformation agenda,” read part of the official statement by Foreign Affairs Minister Mulambo Haimbe.
The State Visit also comes at a time when Israel has just reopened its embassy in Lusaka, decades after it was closed during the presidency of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, signaling a renewed partnership and a new chapter in Zambia–Israel relations.
President Herzog is expected to depart Zambia upon the conclusion of his official engagements on 11th November 2025.
