KazanForum Participants Express Support For Idea Of Multipolar World

Countries of the Islamic world support the idea of multipolarity and seek to contribute to shaping the international agenda. During the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” held in the capital of Tatarstan, representatives of businesses, government departments and public organisations discussed strengthening ties with Russia and BRICS countries.

“Iraq has a great big future ahead of it in many areas, especially in economy and trade. We are keen to develop relations with Russia, so a logical step would be to join BRICS. This will probably happen soon”, Director General of the Iraqi News Agency, Sattar Al-Ardawi told TV BRICS in an exclusive commentary.

“Iran’s decision to join BRICS shows the republic’s support for the idea of a multipolar world. We had a successful experience of co-operation with Russian media, and we are now trying to develop interaction with the media of BRICS countries. For example, we have signed an agreement with TV BRICS, which helps us strengthen ties with other BRICS countries,” CEO of IRNA Ali Naderi emphasised.

Saudi Arabia is in favour of expanding cooperation in the information space with Russia and Islamic countries, Maged Saad al-Maged, Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs and chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee of Saudi Press Agency, said in a commentary to TV BRICS.

“At the forum, we discussed cooperation between media organisations in Islamic countries to fight fake news. In fact, a number of news outlets are already co-operating with each other in this regard. We hope to develop this trend,” he told.

The presentation of TV BRICS took place on the margins of the forum. Its CEO Janna Tolstikova and Director of the International Cooperation Department Daria Ivankova told about the countries the network broadcasts to, as well as about the projects being implemented and ties with Tatarstan.

KazanForum 2024 also hosted a meeting of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, where participants discussed ways of dialogue with partners from the Muslim world to form an inclusive system of global governance.

An extensive cultural programme awaits guests of the forum. They can taste dishes from Muslim countries, see light shows, art exhibitions, and dance masterclasses. Designers from Indonesia, Russia, Egypt and other countries will present their works at the show of decent fashion.
