Mbalula to Meet ANC Limpopo Top Leaders Amid Disputed Three Regional Conferences - African Times

Mbalula to Meet ANC Limpopo Top Leaders Amid Disputed Three Regional Conferences

DISPUTES: ANC secretary general, Fikile Mbalula, is set to meet with the Limpopo provincial leaders, following a series of disputes and alleged irregularities at Norman Mashabane, Vhembe, and Peter Mokaba elective regional conferences. Photo: ANC

The ANC secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula, is set to meet with the Limpopo provincial leaders, following a series of disputes and alleged irregularities that occurred at the three elective regional conferences.

In the invitation letter, Mbulula said the meeting is set to discuss organisational matters.

The meeting is expected to be on Wednesday, 4 June, at the party’s provincial office, Frans Mohlala House.

This follows after disgruntled ANC members from Norman Mashabane, Vhembe, and Peter Mokaba have respectively written to the party’s national dispute resolution committee (NDRC) and Mbalula, to contest the outcomes of their regional conferences.

Further demonstrated concerns about irregularities during the branch general meetings (BGMs) to elect delegates and nominate candidates for the regional elective conferences.

The three regions, which were led by the task teams, held their elective conferences in May, following a series of postponements resulting from branches’ failures to meet the 70% threshold required by the party’s constitution.

In an interview with Capricorn FM, the party’s provincial secretary, Reuben Madadzhe, confirmed that the party members from the three regions have disputed the conference outcomes. He, however, labelled Norman Mashabane’s disputes frivolous.

The provincial secretary refused to disclose the nature of disputes raised with the party’s leadership and said it is an internal affair.

However, African Times understands that the discontented members are aggrieved about how the appointed RTTs resolved the BGMs issues, stemming from failures to adhere to BGM Guidelines, parallel packages, two time Slots, tempering with nominations and delegates forms, scanning of ID’s with members not been present at the venue, scanning of deceased ID to reach quorum.

It is reported that the ANC has set up a team of senior leaders to investigate allegations of vote-rigging and other related irregularities at the three disputed regional conferences.
