The agreement signed with leading newspaper New Era will increase the presence of Namibian media on the global market and strengthen information links across the Global South

News about Namibia’s socio-economic development will be included in the consolidated BRICS+ agenda. The country’s leading national newspaper, New Era (part of New Era Publication Corporation, NEPC), has become TV BRICS’ first media partner in Namibia.
The cooperation agreement was signed by NEPC CEO Christof Maletsky and TV BRICS International Media Network CEO and Editor-in-Chief Janna Tolstikova. The partners plan to exchange content, create joint media projects and contribute to enhancing the professional competencies of media industry workers. Cooperation between TV BRICS and New Era will focus on strengthening ties between Global South countries in the humanitarian and business spheres and developing objective international journalism.
“We are elated about the partnership between TV BRICS and New Era Publication Corporation. It builds and is a practical implementation of the strategic bilateral discussions Namibia and Russia had some 5 months ago in Windhoek. Through the agreement, we hope to diversify New Era’s global media presence, enhance the efficiency of our content and hopefully accelerate our efforts towards full digital transformation. Our news will get access to a multilingual global audience reaching over 80 countries. Therefore, it will help us amplify the Namibian voice across the globe and reach the broader Global South as Namibia engages more with the BRICS group and beyond. All in all, through the agreement we have an opportunity to share globally our Namibia’s strategic national developments while also tapping into knowledge sharing and professional growth through capacity-building initiatives with TV BRICS,” said New Era Publication Corporation CEO Christof Maletsky.
New Era is Namibia’s national newspaper. It was established in 1992. It is part of the Namibian Government’s publishing corporation, NEPC, which is the country’s leading media organisation. The newspaper publishes news and articles on various socio-economic issues. It pays particular attention to matters of governance and public life, especially in rural areas. The New Era bureau network covers all 14 regions of Namibia.
TV BRICS CEO Janna Tolstikova said that Namibia had become the tenth African republic and the 35th country in the world to officially work with the international media network through its media outlets. In the year marking the 20th anniversary of BRICS, an increasing number of participants are seeking to join the common information agenda in order to present their national interests to a global audience and strengthen their international standing. The head of the network thanked New Era for its willingness to cooperate and expressed confidence in the effectiveness of the partnership. According to Janna Tolstikova, the publication’s high readership credibility, professionalism and many years of experience will make it possible to present Namibia in depth and comprehensively and showcase its national potential to external trade and economic partners.
Earlier, media organisations from Ghana, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tunisia, Ethiopia and South Africa began cooperating with TV BRICS on the African continent.
