The project will help Hyderabad improve its transport system amid rapid urban growth

The New Development Bank (NDB) has approved financing for an elevated corridor project in the Indian city of Hyderabad. This was reported by Brasil 247, a TV BRICS partner.

Up to US$395 million will be allocated to modernise urban transport infrastructure and increase the capacity of key highways.

The project includes the construction of high-speed elevated corridors along two major transport routes – National Highway NH-44 and State Highway SH-1.

Hyderabad, the administrative centre of Telangana, has become one of India’s largest economic and technology hubs in recent decades. Population growth and expanding business activity have increased traffic flows and placed additional pressure on the existing road network.

The new infrastructure is expected to reduce travel times and improve transport links between different areas of the city.

The financing for Hyderabad also demonstrates the role of the NDB in supporting infrastructure projects in BRICS member countries. The bank provides funding for initiatives in transport, energy, urban development and other infrastructure sectors.
