Night out ends in death at Giyani stadium - African Times

Night out ends in death at Giyani stadium

THE recently held Fill Up Giyani Stadium has left one reveller dead. Police spokesperson Lieutenant -Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe denied the reports and rumours doing the rounds on social media that 12
people had been killed during the festival.

“The deceased is a 19-year-old from Mavalana Village. He was stabbed with a knife around 3:00 am on the body by an unknown suspect and he died on the scene. The Suspects are still unknown,” he said.
Meanwhile, Greater Giyani Municipality (GGM) strongly condemned the social media reports that 12 people had died at the fill-up Giyani stadium on Sunday morning.

GGM spokesperson, Steven Mavunda said that it was unfortunate that the 19-year-old died a few hours later in Nkhensani Hospital. However, what was equally disgusting was the people who fabricate
information which is baseless and unfounded and confirmed that It was only one body which
was found not 12 or any other number as it had been reported on social media, he added.

“It’s sad that people claim that many people died during the festival, and it’s a smear campaign against the success of Giyani at large. It’s a smear campaign against the success of Giyani at large,”Mazunda said.
