Durban, South Africa – The South African Police Service (SAPS) has today confirmed major new developments in the high-profile murder case of 30-year-old Olorato Mongale.

Earlier this morning, SAPS issued a media statement revealing that a third suspect has now been added to the list of wanted individuals. Bongani Mthimkhulu, who is a friend of one of the main suspects, Philangenkosi Makhanya, is now officially wanted in connection with the brutal murder.

“Mthimkhulu, seen wearing a white top in the attached photo, is believed to be actively evading capture,” said SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe. “Investigations are ongoing and have now entered a critical and sensitive stage.”

Police have thanked the public for providing valuable tips, particularly those who contacted Brigadier Nama with information about the suspects’ movements.

Suspect’s Parents Arrested After Helping Him Evade Police

In the latest update provided just hours later, SAPS confirmed the arrest of the mother and father of one of the suspects still on the run. The father owns the white VW Polo that was allegedly used in the crime, while the mother is accused of warning her son that police were on their way—helping him escape from their Inanda home before officers could arrest him.

“This kind of interference severely undermines our efforts,” said Brigadier Mathe. “It is disturbing that a parent would assist a murder suspect to flee. We are treating this matter very seriously.”
