After equaling Siyabonga Nomvethe’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) top scorer record, Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has set his sights on the Golden Boot.
Shalulile is the talk of town after scoring his 129th PSL goal in a 2-0 league win over Magesi FC in midweek.
This equalled Nomvethe’s tally, and one more goal from Shalulile will ensure he is the outright PSL top scorer of all time, which is since the 1996/97 – the league’s inaugural season.
Shalulile wants more than just a record and has lofty ambitions this season.
“I believe that many goals will come; I just need to get my confidence back. 25 goals (is my target); with God by my side, it is possible,” he said.
The Namibian international has won the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot on three occasions: 2019/20, 2021/22, and 2022/23, which is the most by a player in the history of the league.
