Mooifontein Cemetery Murder: State to Oppose Bail as Accused Remains in Custody

The State is set to oppose bail for Matome Victor Rampedi, who is accused of murdering Ntombifuthu Nxumalo, whose body was found at Mooifontein Cemetery in the Vusimusi section of Tembisa last month.

Rampedi appeared in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where the State indicated it was ready to proceed with his formal bail application.

The Limpopo High Court in Polokwane has cleared 50 former matric learners from Baphutheng Senior Secondary School of examination irregularities, bringing an end to a nearly two-year battle over allegations that they engaged in group copying.

The court ordered the Limpopo Department of Education (LDoE) to release the learners’ National Senior Certificate statements of results and certificates without any adverse endorsement.

The South African Police Service has confirmed that the disciplinary proceedings against suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya are proceeding, despite his legal team’s separate application before the Labour Court.

SAPS told journalists that Sibiya’s disciplinary hearing was heard on Monday, with his request for a postponement granted to allow him additional time to consult his legal representatives.
