The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is considering suspending Peter Nonyane, aka Greater Gagash Municipality, following his arrest by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, commonly known as the Hawks, on allegations of fraud.
Nonyane, who has built a sizeable social media following under the name “Greater Gagash Municipality”, was arrested by the Hawks in Tshwane on Friday, 14 August 2026.

The South African Policing Union (SAPU) has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to urgently reinstate suspended National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, saying revelations before the Madlanga Commission have raised serious questions about the legal basis and handling of the case against him.

Lusaka— President Hakainde Hichilema has taken a commanding lead in Zambia’s presidential election, with results from 135 of the country’s 226 constituencies now announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).
Hichilema has so far secured 1,544,140 votes, while his closest challenger, Brian Mundubile, has polled 1,030,662 votes.
The incumbent is therefore ahead by 513,478 votes.
With results from 135 constituencies announced, 91 constituencies remain to be reported.

The South African Police Service on Sunday paid tribute to 29-year-old Constable Thapelo Kleinbooi Tlometsane, describing him as a dedicated young officer whose promising career was brutally cut short when he was killed while responding to gunshots in Reiger Park, east of Johannesburg.
Tlometsane was laid to rest in Zebediela, Limpopo, where his family, colleagues and senior government officials gathered to honour his life and service.
