The Madlanga Commission has marked one year of public hearings, with 110 witnesses having testified over 174 days as the inquiry investigates allegations of criminality, political interference and corruption in South Africa’s criminal justice system.

The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System held its first hearing on 17 September 2025, following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of the inquiry in July that year.
